Русская версия In August 2017, one of our travel dreams came true: we finally visited Iceland. We had been worried about high costs in this country, but at the same time, many of our acquaintances had visited it and gave some practical advice. As a result, we caught a relatively cheap flight to Reykjavik. We will share our itinerary and give some advice on how to organize a trip next time. Today we share our main impressions about Iceland and tell about the most interesting sights of this amazing country.
Русская версия After visiting Ladoga Lake surroundings including the marble factory, we continued travelling around Karelia to get acquainted with the ancient architecture of this area – the traditional villages which form the so-called Svyatozero necklace.
Русская версия We are very far from being the fans of organized tours, especially after some unpleasant experiences, for instance, in Abkhazia and Zanzibar. This negative experiences, however, may be contested by the positive ones, such as tours in Kamchatka or Olkhon Island in Baikal. Similarly, the guided tour to Arshan (we walked around it on our own a lot too) also left us with great impressions we are going to share with you.
Русская версия We have just come back from six countries of Central America and want to share the main impressions from them. Undoubtedly, the countries are very different. Panama and Costa-Rica are quite rich, safe (this does not always apply to Panama) and expensive. El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras are much more frightening and you must be careful travelling there, but these countries are especially charming and not spoilt by tourists. Locals are very enthusiastic and friendly with those few travelers who come to these countries (extremely few tourists come to El Salvador and Honduras). Nicaragua is a golden mean: there is a lot to see there, yet, without tourist crowds. Just to compare: entrance fee to the territory of volcanoes Masaya in Nicaragua and Poas in Costa Rica are 3 and 15 dollars correspondingly. Meanwhile, both volcanoes provide excellent views.
Русская версия You may easily spend a month in Kamchatka without seeing all you want: there is too much to see! Yet, the place to start with is always its capital Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and its surroundings. Then you may go to Esso, Tolbachik volcano, Mutnovsky volcano, or Mutnovskaya geothermal power plant.
Русская версия Ascending Tolbachik volcano, we saw the consequences of its eruption – the hardened lava fields at its foot. Yet, despite the widespread opinion, a volcano eruption is not just the lava flowing out of the crater. The eruption may be seen and heard hundreds of kilometres beyond the crater, in the most unexpected places and not only in the form of lava.
