Kavo Gkreko<\/strong> is a small national park in between Agia Napa<\/a><\/strong> and Protaras in Cyprus and can be reached by busses 101 and 102.<\/p>\n

It is believed that a temple dedicated to Aphrodite once existed in it. It also an area of unique natural beauty with magnificent cliff formations. It offers a lot of hiking routes and cycling possibilities, and can be explored by car too, if needed. We went for the latter and also faster option which requires 3-4 hours to explore the main attractions. In this post, we tell about all of them.<\/p>\n

Kavo Gkreko visitor center<\/h3>\n

The center is at the park entrance and it provides more than just the park information. Exhibitions at the center include collections of shells, butterflies, wild birds, mammals, reptiles, fossils and a dwarf hippopotamus skeleton which ceased to exist in Cyprus about 13,000 years ago. Also, visitors have a chance to see three large aquaria with various fish and aquatic plants of the surrounding marine area.<\/p>\n

Agioi Anargyroi Church and cave<\/h3>\n

Despite the variety of churches in Cyprus, this one is truly special.

Anyone can open and enter it, just do not forget to close it.

The church is built over the sea cave where it is believed that the saints Agioi Anargyroi lived as ascetics.

Kamara tou koraka<\/h3>\n

This huge geological formation resembles a bridge and translates into English as \u201ca stone arch.\u201c Before, walking on it was allowed, but not anymore for obvious reasons. Large cracks formed in the central part of the bridge and at the base of the arch. Kamara Tou Koraka is included by tourist guides into the list of 10 most beautiful natural bridges that may soon disappear from the face of the Earth.

If you continue down, you will find a nice descend to water and a great picnic spot.

Sea caves<\/h3>\n

More impressive than Agioi Anargyroi Church cave are the so-called sea caves. These are the cliffs with holes created by water. The place is very windy, but it is probably the most beautiful spot in the park.

Konnos Bay Beach<\/h3>\n

This beach should be definitely great and popular in summer: the bay is warmed by the sun, and it must be a pleasure to swim here. Even in sring, Victor managed to get a refresh here.

Also, the beach is a starting point for the hike to Cyclop\u2019s cave.

Cyclop\u2019s cave<\/h3>\n

The cave can only be reached on foot, it requires 1.5 kilometers of hiking from the Konnos Bay. At first we walked along the bottom and it did not feel good to go under the sheer cliffs with the signs \u201cCaution! Rock fall!\u201d We walked back along a safer path.

When we finally reached the cave, the views around were just great!
