Travelers rarely come to Cheboksary<\/strong>, but if, by any chance, you get to this city, there is something to see and even some interesting places for shopping. <\/p>\n

The previous photo depicts the main tourist attraction in Cheboksary<\/strong> according to Tripadvisor, this is a monument to mother patron of the city. You must understand now why we are so skeptical about tripadvisors and lonelyplanets: the city has many more places to see. We recommend to start with Merchant Efremov\u2019s Boulevard: this is a tourist street selling souvenirs in the very city center.

It also has a monument to Ostap Bender<\/strong>, the protagonist of The Twelve Chairs and The Little Golden Calf, the humorous novels written by Soviet authors Ilya Ilf and Yevgeni Petrov. Ostap Bender as if visited this region during his adventurous travels.

In 1584, Ivan the Terrible founded the female monastery in Cheboksary; in 1601, Maria Shestova, the grandmother of the first Russian Romanov tsar Mikhail Fedorovich was sent to this monastery. In 1936, the monastery cathedral was destroyed, and this was only in 2013 that Chuvash archeologists discovered the burial of Maria Shestova.

Next to the main exhibition there is a small house in which Chapaev was born.

The city has many more places to visit such as the Museum of Tractors, Arts Museum and the river port. In Cheboksary, you will encounter many unexpected things and people.
